Live Sports: Clydesdale Bank Premier League, French Ligue 1, FA Cup, Pre-Season Friendly, Russian Premier League, MLS, Sri Lankan Premier League Cricket, UFC 150, MLB & AFL

This weekend ESPN has live and exclusive coverage from the second weekend of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League as Hearts travel to face Hibernian in the first Edinburgh derby of the season. Hearts will be looking to improve on last season’s fifth placed finish under new manager John McGlynn.

The opening weekend of French Ligue 1 sees three live and exclusive games on ESPN, the action includes champions Montpellier starting their title defence against Toulouse. Ambitious Paris St Germain take on Lorient and are likely to give debuts to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Ezequiel Lavezzi, while Marseille travel to Reims.

The football action continues with Wembley FC welcoming Langford Town in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup on ESPN – the first time such a match has been broadcast on live UK television. Wembley FC have employed former England manager Terry Venables as Technical Advisor and David Seaman, Ray Parlour, Martin Keown and Graeme Le Saux for their playing squad. Elsewhere, Liverpool challenge Bayer Leverkusen in a pre-season friendly and Zenit St Petersburg host Spartak Moscow in the Russian Premier League.

There are also two games from the MLS as David Beckham’s LA Galaxy challenge Chivas USA and Thierry Henry’s New York Red Bulls take on Houston Dynamo.

ESPN has live coverage of the opening day of the Sri Lanka Premier League Cricket as Basnahira Cricket Dundee, captained by Tillakaratne Dilshan, face the Kandurata Warriors, who boast Saeed Ajmal in their squad.

UFC 150 is live on ESPN this Saturday as Frankie Edgar fights Ben Henderson for the UFC Lightweight Championship. The bout sees Henderson defend his title for the first time against the man he won it from at UFC 144.

There are eight live games from the MLB on ESPN America this weekend. The New York Mets welcome Atlanta Braves on both Saturday and Sunday. The New York Yankees travel to the Toronto Blue Jays and the LA Dodgers are at the Miami Marlins.

The AFL is now in the second half of its season and there are three live games this weekend. Second placed side, Adelaide, face Fremantle, while defending champions Geelong Cats challenge West Coast Eagles, both sides are currently tied on 48 points.

To celebrate the start of the new Barclays Premier League season ESPN Classic will be airing its new series of Legends of the Barclays Premier League, featuring stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Peter Schmeichel and the late Gary Speed.
