The sixth edition of the Royal Trophy will be broadcast live on ESPN as teams representing Europe and Asia face each other in the match play tournament. The European team will be captained by Jose Maria Olazabal, and the Ryder Cup hero will be joined by several of the team members who contributed to Europe’s comeback against the US earlier this year. Nicolas Colsaerts, Paul Lawrie and Francesco Molinari are all set to represent Europe, as well as Colin Montgomerie and Henrik Stenson. Naomichi Ozaki will captain the Asian team and will look to the experience of Y.E. Yang – the only Asian player to win a major – and Ryo Ishikawa as he aims to guide Asia to their second Royal Trophy win. The vision of golf legend Seve Ballesteros, the Royal Trophy has been played five times since the inaugural tournament in 2006. Europe have won the competition four times, including the 2011 edition, when Colin Montgomerie captained his side to a remarkable comeback victory on day three after Asia had won all four four-ball matches to take a commanding 6-2 lead. Hour-long highlights programmes will also be aired for each day of the competition.
